Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Cloud Systems Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, and security of cloud-based applications and infrastructure. This role involves working closely with stakeholders to analyze business requirements, develop solutions, and ensure compliance with FISMA High standards and NIST 800-53 controls. The ideal candidate will have experience with AWS (particularly Gov Cloud), cloud security tools, and federal compliance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain cloud-based applications and infrastructure.
- Analyze and define business requirements to determine technical specifications and standards.
- Propose and implement secure and scalable cloud-based solutions.
- Deploy and oversee integration of web applications, ensuring adherence to security standards.
- Monitor system uptime and performance; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain documentation, logs, and records of system performance and security audits.
- Stay up to date on emerging cloud technologies and evaluate their applicability.
FISMA High Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise on FISMA and federal compliance requirements.
- Translate NIST 800-53 control requirements into implemented technical solutions.
- Support FISMA audits and provide input on security posture and remediation plans.
- Utilize security tools such as Splunk, Tenable Nessus, Qualys, and Arc Sight.
- Assist with Incident Response processes and reporting.
Required Skills:
- Strong experience with core AWS services (Gov Cloud preferred), including EC2, Lambda, Cloud Watch, Guard Duty, Inspector, VPCs, and Transit Gateways.
- Proficient in using cloud security tools (Splunk, Tenable Nessus, Qualys, Arc Sight, etc.).
- Familiarity with NIST 800-53 controls and federal compliance frameworks.
- Ability to translate compliance requirements into technical implementation.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Formal FISMA training or certification is a strong plus.
Experience:
- 5–7 years of experience in cloud engineering or related IT field.
- Hands-on experience with FISMA High environments and NIST 800-53 compliance.
- Previous experience in federal or government IT environments is highly desirable.
