Enterprise Architecture work involves developing high level frameworks that align an organization’s IT applications, infrastructure with business processes/data to improve the efficiency and productivity of business operations including:
- Mapping the relationships between information systems components (i.e., end users, business processes, applications, data, IT platform hardware/software, and networks)
- Identifying key interactions and dependencies across separate systems and platforms
- Evaluating the total cost of ownership and return on investment of various architecture alternatives.
The Principal Enterprise Architect is accountable for embedding and actively contributing to the organization's governance processes, ensuring that architectural decisions are aligned with enterprise standards, policies, and strategic objectives. Through the use of reference architectures, sound architectural principles, and clear communication, they effectively influence stakeholders - translating complex technical concepts into accessible insights for non-technical audiences while driving alignment across business and technology domains.
