Purpose:

The Quality Technician is responsible for monitoring, auditing, and improving the quality of nonwoven products and processes within the Magnera facility. This position plays a key role in ensuring that raw materials, in‑process materials, and finished goods meet internal and customer specifications. The role involves routine testing, data collection, problem‑solving, and collaboration with production and engineering teams to uphold quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Manages and creates COA/COC documentation for customers by shipment.
  • Works with quality engineers to ensure data is accurate and timely.
  • Manages the OHRT document control system ensuring documents are updated appropriately, revisions are reviewed and approved, along with obsolete documents being stored properly.
  • Responsible for accurately mapping defects from NATN prior to running on the OHRT assets. Communicates status to appropriate operations personnel.
  • Maintains the OHRT supplier raw material COA database and documentation.
  • Releases (or blocks) raw materials after careful review of COA data.
  • Inspection of finished product prior to shipping for specific customer requirements.
  • Backup for other OHRT quality technician.
  • Document and report nonconformance issues; support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality documentation, including segcode system, inspection instructions, and deviation reports.
  • Documents and implements (release, change, remove or apply) segcode changes for all areas and groups within the site.
  • Communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including Production, Maintenance, and Engineering, to resolve quality concerns.
  • Using computer input database, manipulates data is required for most parameters using MS office software.
  • Achieves key performance measures, safety and quality.
  • Participates on Lean Manufacturing/Process Improvement teams.
  • Performs all tasks in a safe manner. Complies with all safety rules.
  • Participates as backup to other quality technician positions.
  • Performs any other duties as required by supervisor/manager.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED;
    Associate degree or technical training preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience in a quality or manufacturing environment, preferably in nonwoven or textile manufacturing
  • Excellent computer skills with high competency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of FIRM and Intelex preferred
  • Knowledge of basic quality tools and techniques (e.g., SPC, 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams)
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and test procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording and reporting
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 systems data entry into ERP or quality management systems strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles preferred.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects or tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear, smell. The employee must periodically lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
