Specialist, Fixture Planning
At Tractor Supply Company the Specialist, Fixture Planning role supports stores and merchandising through the coordination and support of all fixture planning activity. Responsibilities include research, design, vendor negotiation, fixture space utilization, project management, strategic distribution planning, program evaluation, and merchandise presentation planning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best value and lowest total cost of ownership for fixture life cycle.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities, evaluate fixture selections, qualify sourcing, and obtain pricing to make optimal purchasing decisions.
- Manage accounting needs for fixtures by store including quantity determination, cost calculation, CER process initiation, merchandise presentation approval, policy compliance, fixed asset reporting, cost tracking, invoice reconciliation, and coding per accounting policies.
- Facilitate joint meetings to assist in procurement forecasting, demand management, requirement development, and identify purchasing channels and sources.
- Partner with Purchasing Department to conduct strategic sourcing projects: prepare RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, ITBs; evaluate responses to select final supplier.
- Control, organize, and manage centralized database of authorized fixture vendors, purchase requisitions, orders, contracts, specifications, engineering drawings, fixture photos, and related documents.
- Plan and manage fixture inventory to support new stores, existing stores, and project‑related fixture needs; work with Space Planners to ensure accurate fixture pieces, part numbers, and quantities are reflected in planograms.
- Assist in development of new fixtures with Buying teams, Visual Presentation, Floor Planning, and Space Planning.
- Manage plans, purchases, distribution, and tracking of all fixture orders resulting from projects, rollouts, new stores, relocations, remodels, store requests, punch lists, and store correspondence.
- 2–3 years’ experience in a business or retail environment with strong merchandising knowledge; 1–2 years in print or fixture industry.
- Background in engineering or creative design preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (or a suitable combination of education and experience).
- Good working knowledge of computers and related software (SAP, Word, Excel).
- Basic math skills, including calculating discounts, percentages, and understanding basic accounting principles.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to manipulate large amounts of data accurately.
- Strong negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand floor layouts, planograms, and design drawings.
- Normal office working conditions.
- Sitting, standing, walking, kneeling/scooping/bending.
- Lifting up to 20 pounds.
