Educator I
Lead engaging and informative outdoor science lessons for 2nd–8th-grade level participants.
Ensure the safety and well-being of participants during field trips.
Effectively engage participants in lessons.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of local natural history, Muddy Sneakers' curriculum, and instructional methodology.
Navigate outdoor settings confidently, using maps and compasses as needed.
Collaborate with fellow program staff.
Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
Maintain equipment and supplies.
Complete administrative tasks, such as submitting reports and mileage logs.
Other duties as assigned (such as occasional site scouting, troubleshooting, etc.)
Qualifications:
At least 1 year of experience in education, environmental education, or a related field, and
A passion for environmental education and the Muddy Sneakers mission.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience working with children in educational settings or completion of a Muddy Sneakers Apprenticeship.
Knowledge of or a willingness to learn about the natural history of the applicable region of North Carolina.
Current First Aid and Child/Adult CPR (may be obtained through Muddy Sneakers).
Willingness to enroll in or current certification in an approved environmental education certification program.
