The Cindy Platt Boys & Girls Club of Transylvania County has served school-aged youth since 1999, with a mission to help all young people, especially those who need support most, reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The Club provides year-round programs for youth ages 5 to 18 through engaging, evidence-based activities and strong relationship-building that supports the whole child.
Members benefit from a positive, inclusive, and safe environment that encourages learning, recreation, and healthy social connections. Programs are led by caring, compassionate, and dedicated staff who focus on academic success, good character and citizenship, the arts, and health and wellness outcomes.
The Youth Development Professional (YDP) is a fun, after school, part-time, on-site role based in Brevard, NC. This role is responsible for leading, supervising daily programs and activities for youth grades K-12 in areas such as academics, leadership, arts, and health and wellness. YDPs build positive relationships with members, promote safe and inclusive environments, and facilitate small and large group activities. This is a Monday through Friday after school position with no weekends and the possibility of continuing into the summer.
YDPs can choose a 3, 4, or 5 day per week work schedule.
- Demonstrated knowledge of working with youth such as working in schools, after-school programs, coaching, camps, or other youth-serving environments
- Ability to maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured environment, including positive behavior management and conflict resolution skills.
- Reliability and professionalism
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass required background checks and drug screenings in accordance with youth-serving organization standards.
