Job Description
Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse for our Med‑Surg Trauma Spine unit within the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide comprehensive, evidence‑based nursing care to adult patients with complex medical, surgical, trauma, and spine conditions in a fast‑paced acute care environment.
As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you will conduct thorough patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, administer medications and treatments safely, monitor patient responses, and promptly recognize and escale changes in condition. You will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case managers, and support staff to coordinate care and ensure safe, effective transitions through the continuum of care.
The Registered Nurse Med‑Surg Trauma Spine is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record, adhering to infection prevention and patient safety protocols, and following all professional nursing standards and Mission Health policies. You will provide pre‑ and post‑operative care for spine and trauma patients, manage surgical drains and wound care, support pain management plans, and educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures, medications, and discharge instructions.
You will also contribute to quality improvement initiatives, participate in unit‑based committees as appropriate, and support a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
