Somic America is seeking a motivated Material Flow Operator to help keep our manufacturing operations running efficiently. This position plays a vital role in ensuring materials are delivered accurately, safely, and on time throughout the plant. WhatYou’ll Do
As a Material Flow Operator, you’ll be responsible for the safe, accurate, and damage‑free movement of materials throughout our manufacturing facility while supporting our commitment to Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Continuous Improvement.
Daily Responsibilities- Safely transport raw materials, components, and finished products throughout the facility.
- Utilize the AIM inventory system to accurately transact raw materials.
- Supply raw forgings to machining departments.
- Deliver plated housings, totes, and components to assembly lines.
- Keep production areas supplied with empty boxes, pallets, and required materials.
- Break down raw forging containers and prepare materials for recycling or disposal.
- Load pallets and wooden crates onto trailers for disposal or recycling.
- Move finished goods to warehouse shelving or designated screening areas.
- Transport machined housings to shipping for customer delivery.
- Fill component hoppers while verifying the correct materials are being used.
- Remove finished goods from production rails while verifying quality and quantity standards.
- Operate the cardboard baler as needed.
- Perform daily forklift inspections and preventive maintenance checks.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas while supporting 5S and housekeeping initiatives.
- Follow standardized work procedures and company policies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and submit improvement suggestions.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment at all times.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift or willingness to become certified.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic computer skills for inventory transactions are preferred.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Read and understand manifests, bills of lading, work instructions, and production documentation.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates.
- Participate in team meetings and share information clearly.
- Perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Work with percentages, ratios, and decimals.
- Solve routine problems using standard procedures and work instructions.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently use hands for handling materials and equipment.
- Regularly reach, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and occasionally climb.
- Regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds.
- Maintain good close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision.
- Manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels.
- Frequent forklift and pedestrian traffic.
- Fast‑paced production setting requiring teamwork, attention to detail, and safe work practices.
