Overview
We are looking for highly driven, mechanically inclined individuals passionate about developing a career as Heavy Equipment or Electric Power Generation technician to join the Milton CAT Diesel Technician Trainee program! The Diesel Technician Training program has a set start date in January 2027
, and we are hiring now for a limited number of trainee spots.
This is a paid training program. Starting pay rate for Trainees hired is $22.59/hr.

The Diesel Technician Training program consists of 2,000 hours of intensive training across a 12-month period, including:
- 1,600 hours of hands on, on-the-job training
- 450 hours of instructor led training and computer-based learning
Trainees will rotate through a variety of technical areas within our facilities and work elbow-to-elbow with some of the best Caterpillar technicians in the industry.
Regional travel is required every other month to attend on-site orientations and training classes at our corporate facility in Massachusetts. All company based training is paid.
Upon successful completion of the Diesel Technician Trainee program, Trainees have the opportunity to be offered a full-time technician position at any Milton CAT or Milton Rents location.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED required
- 1+ yearsof experience servicing heavy equipment, or equivalent education in automotive/diesel/related mechanical vocational program strongly preferred
- Strong adherence tosafety, and strong customer service, problem solving, and communication skills
- Abilitytolift upto 50 lbs. unassisted
- Solidmechanicalaptitudewith a desire to learn and ability to adapt
- Proficient in the use of computer technology (laptop and related software systems)
- Clean and valid driver’s license required
