Youth Advocate Counselor

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is partnered with a highly respected facility in Brewster, MA seeking Youth Advocate Counselors to work with males ages 13-21 in a staff-secure Department of Youth Services (DYS) Juvenile Justice Program. Only accepting male candidates due to being a male-only population.

Duration: 13 Weeks

Facility Type:

Schedule:

40 hours/week

3:00 PM - 11:00 PM or 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Facility can be flexible with the days worked, provided candidates maintain a consistent set schedule.

Overtime opportunities available.

Pay Rate: $25-$27/hour (dependent on experience)

Important Orientation Information:

Orientation is 3 weeks long and takes place in Clinton, MA.

Due to the extended commute, the facility provides a $100/week reimbursement during orientation to help offset travel expenses.

The Role

The facility is seeking passionate, compassionate, and service-oriented individuals to work in a staff-secure residential setting with youth involved in the juvenile justice system. This position provides a unique opportunity to positively impact the lives of young people by serving as a mentor, advocate, role model, and supportive caregiver. The role is multifaceted and includes teaching life skills, setting appropriate limits, care coordination, advocacy, and fostering positive youth development.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in careers in human services, social work, criminal justice, psychology, counseling, or education to gain valuable hands-on experience while making a meaningful difference in the lives of youth.

Responsibilities
  • Use principles and practices of youth development and trauma-informed care to create a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.
  • Foster youth skills, interests, and personal growth through mentorship and positive role modeling.
  • Implement safe and engaging program activities that encourage healthy choices and personal development.
  • Promote responsible and healthy decision-making among youth.
  • Implement safety protocols and emergency procedures, including crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with program staff to support youth treatment goals and daily programming.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent related experience.
  • Experience working with youth preferred.
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver's License.
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or Chest X-Ray (if applicable).
  • Current Health Certificate (per contract or state regulations).
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
