Step into an impactful role supporting students as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter for the  academic year. This rewarding, full-time contract opportunity is entirely onsite, providing vital communication access for K-12 students in inclusive school settings. Two positions are available: engage with learners across three schools or focus your expertise with younger students at a single K-4 campus.

Bring your passion for American Sign Language and advocacy for accessible education into classrooms where your skills truly make a difference. Collaborate daily with teachers, staff, and families to facilitate an inclusive, welcoming environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Qualifications &

Experience:
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and ability to effectively interpret in educational settings
  • Previous experience interpreting in schools, especially with K-12 or elementary student populations, is highly valued
  • Familiarity with classroom routines and adapting language for comprehension at various grade levels
  • Professional certification or qualification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to build rapport with children, educators, and families
  • Commitment to confidentiality and adherence to professional ethical guidelines
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and ASL during instructional time, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
  • Partner with classroom teachers to ensure instructional content is accessible for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
  • Assist with IEP meetings when necessary and contribute insights regarding students' communication needs
  • Maintain a respectful, supportive presence throughout the school community
