Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Medical Writer – Learning Solutions supports pharmaceutical and biotech clients by transforming complex scientific and medical information into clear, concise, easy-to-digest training content for adult learners. Audiences include sales representatives and medical science liaisons, many of whom may not have a scientific background. This role focuses on content development, not design or regulatory submissions. Writers create outlines and transcripts primarily in Microsoft Word, which are later handed off to internal design and development teams.

A critical component of the role is researching reputable medical references and accurately citing all content, as materials undergo rigorous client legal and regulatory review. Work volume varies week to week; writers are engaged as projects arise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Distill complex scientific and medical information into clear training materials for adult learners
  • Develop outlines and transcripts for e-learning and other training formats
  • Update existing training content using the most current literature, guidelines, and treatment data
  • Research and select reputable references (e.g., medical societies, clinical guidelines, peer-reviewed journals, Pub Med/NCBI)
  • Accurately cite and format all references within Microsoft Word documents
  • Collaborate with internal Learning Solutions team members during outline and content reviews
  • Incorporate feedback efficiently while working on fast timelines
  • Ensure content is clear, accurate, and compliant with review standards
Must Haves
  • Scientific or medical background (education and/or professional experience)
  • Experience writing training or educational content for adult learners
  • Strong ability to simplify and clearly explain complex information
  • Experience researching and referencing medical/scientific literature
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, including structured formatting and citations
  • Ability to work independently, learn new therapeutic areas quickly, and manage tight timelines
  • Comfort with variable weekly hours (0–40 hours depending on workload)
Plusses
  • Advanced degree (MS, PharmD, PhD)
  • Experience writing training for pharmaceutical or biotech audiences
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles
  • Broad therapeutic exposure rather than deep specialization in one area
  • High efficiency and confidence working with minimal oversight
