Our Outpatient program provides flexible virtual and office-based behavioral health services, with office locations in Parsippany and Brick, New Jersey. Clinicians have flexibility in building their caseload and schedule based on their availability, client needs, and program opportunities, with referrals and support provided by Step Up. For clinicians interested in expanding their telehealth practice, Step Up also provides support with applicable credentialing requirements for telehealth services in other states.

Position Summary

The Outpatient Therapist provides behavioral health counseling and therapeutic services to a varied caseload of children, adolescents, and adults through virtual and office-based care.

The clinician is responsible for assessing client needs, developing and maintaining individualized treatment plans, delivering clinically appropriate therapeutic interventions, monitoring progress, completing required documentation, and collaborating with clients, families, referral sources, and other members of the treatment team as appropriate.

This position offers flexibility in both caseload and scheduling, with daytime, evening, and weekend opportunities available. Step Up provides client referrals, and clinicians are not required to generate their own referrals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual, family, and other clinically appropriate outpatient behavioral health counseling services in accordance with each client's treatment plan and clinical needs.
• Provide services virtually and/or from Step Up's Parsippany and Brick office locations based on client needs, clinician availability, and program requirements.
• Assess behavioral health and mental health needs and provide clinically appropriate interventions within the clinician's scope of practice and licensure.
• Develop, implement, review, and maintain individualized treatment plans based on the specific needs and goals of each client.
• Complete clinical assessments when appropriate and permitted by the clinician's license and scope of practice.
• Monitor client progress toward treatment goals and modify therapeutic approaches and treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
• Engage clients and families as active participants in treatment and support progress toward identified goals.
• Collaborate within a wraparound, team-based model of care by coordinating, as appropriate, with clients, families, referral sources, Care Management Organizations, and other treatment team members to support continuity of care and positive client outcomes.
• Maintain professional and timely communication with clients, families, referral sources, and members of the treatment team as appropriate.
• Complete all required clinical documentation, including progress notes and treatment documentation, accurately and within required time frames.
• Learn and utilize required electronic systems and software to document services, maintain clinical records, and support accurate and consistent billing submissions.
• Participate in clinical supervision, consultation, training, and team collaboration as required.
• Maintain professional boundaries and comply with applicable ethical, clinical, organizational, licensing, payer, and regulatory requirements.
