Position: Psych APP Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant Part-Time

Psych Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Or Physician Assistant

The Psych Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Physician Assistant utilizes a patient-centered coordinated care model, demonstrating competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision-making. The APN / PA works collaboratively with the practice/hospital team to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs. APN must have PMHNP certification, PA must have psych training.

Responsibilities include performing and documenting accurate, complete, and relevant history and physical assessments, ordering, performing, and interpreting laboratory tests and diagnostic studies/procedures, managing general medical and surgical conditions, prescribing medication safely and effectively, seeking opportunities to promote Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) APN practice recognition, providing patient- and family-centered care, adhering to HMH nursing protocols, standards of care, and disease-specific quality indicators, applying evidence-based and value-based medicine, demonstrating clinical expertise, completing medication reconciliations, participating in annual APN peer review, translating best practice into clinical practice, providing culturally sensitive and educationally appropriate health management education, facilitating consistent, coordinated care, serving as an advocate for patients and families, serving as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team, participating in organizational and departmental meetings, demonstrating the highest level of accountability for professional practice, collaborating with medical staff to support nursing-led protocols, mentoring other APNs, precepting students in APN programs, promoting a collaborative work environment, promoting innovation by integrating new clinical knowledge into practice, participating in clinical research activities, identifying ethical care issues, adhering to the legal framework and scope of practice defined by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs, complying with HMH and department-specific scope of services, policies and procedures, and adhering to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications include a graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program, a master's or doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, maintaining clinical competencies through continuing education and clinical practice, experience in a relevant patient care setting, a national provider identifier (NPI), prescriptive authority through CDS and DEA registration according to New Jersey state law, a collaborative agreement with physicians on staff, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
