Overview

The Account Manager is responsible for positioning and selling the Pacira portfolio within the assigned territory, leveraging pharmacological and technical product knowledge, developing a sound business plan with the Regional Director, and exceeding defined sales revenues.

Summary

The Account Manager will use product knowledge, institutional relationships, and business acumen to execute strategy and meet sales objectives for Pacira’s portfolio of products.

Responsibilities
  • Identify target markets in accordance with organizational strategy using familiarity with account‑based operations and existing reporting tools.
  • Ensure corporate revenue objectives are exceeded within the specified geography.
  • Work with surgeons, anesthesiologists, healthcare providers, and pharmacy to ensure Pacira portfolio adoption within accounts.
  • Develop and maintain expertise of all products.
  • Manage time effectively to increase sales productivity and implement sales activities.
  • Co‑operate with the Region Director in strategic and tactical planning.
  • Update and document sales account information via the Veeva system.
  • Demonstrate expertise and knowledge of the conversion process within hospitals, ASCs, or offices.
  • Develop and execute sales and retention strategies for target markets and customers.
  • Conduct face‑to‑face sales meetings with physicians, schedulers, practice managers, and medical staff to understand and close business.
  • Manage territory through office visits, providing education on services, enhancements, and new advances.
  • Communicate opportunities, market trends, and issues to management staff in a timely manner.
  • Manage expense budgets efficiently.
  • Stay current with the latest clinical data and discuss it during presentations.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 1 year of direct selling experience to hospitals and healthcare professionals in the pharmaceutical, biotech, device, or health‑care industry.
  • Preferred: 1 year of sales experience in the operating room.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
  • Strong presentation abilities.
  • Timely completion of hospital credentialing requirements for facility access.
  • Experience with Customer Resource Management tools.
  • Able to travel extensively; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Live within or close to the designated geographic territory.
  • Knowledge of key industry drivers, emerging medical trends, and performance metrics.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and analytical skills with a customer focus.
  • Self‑motivated and driven to achieve high goals with continuous improvement.
  • Competencies in sales efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Skilled in account management, needs assessment, value propositioning, handling objections, and gaining agreement with physicians and procurement departments.
  • Proficiency with technologies (MS Office, mobile, web applications).
  • Willingness to travel overnight and locally up to 90% of the time.
Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to travel by automobile, airplane, and other public transportation, sit or stand for long periods, and move quickly and safely in operating rooms and other healthcare environments.
