About the role
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will take on a pivotal leadership role, guiding shift patterns, supporting daily routines, and fostering a secure and empowering environment for a young person. You will play a key part in delivering high standards of care, ensuring safeguarding compliance, and implementing best practices aligned with Ofsted regulations. The position offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in a child’s life by providing compassionate, programmes-based care within a safe, structured environment.
Key responsibilities

Act as shift leader on a rotational basis, managing the care team to ensure consistency, safeguarding, and positive outcomes for the young person.
Support the young person to feel secure, listened to, and empowered in their daily routines.
Contribute to care planning, safeguarding policies, and maintaining accurate records.
Promote trauma-informed, child-centred approaches to care.
Work collaboratively with external professionals, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Mentor junior staff and new team members, fostering team resilience and consistency.
Contribute to the development of a supportive, child-focused environment that prioritises wellbeing, independence, and development.

Candidate requirements

Hold a Level 3 Children & Young People (CYP) qualification or equivalent.
Proven experience working in a residential setting supporting children or vulnerable adolescents.
Demonstrate leadership skills, confidence in decision-making, and resilience under pressure.
Calm, empathetic, and child-focused with a passion for safeguarding and child development.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, child protection policies, and regulatory standards, including Ofsted requirements.
