Support Worker – Children’s Residential Care | Bridgend

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated team working within a residential care setting in South Wales. The role of a Support Worker in a children’s residential home involves providing nurturing and stable support to children and young people, helping them to develop resilience, independence, and confidence.
This full-time, permanent position offers a salary of £28,195 per annum. You will be instrumental in creating a safe and caring environment, supporting children’s emotional and behavioural needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safeguarding, excellent communication skills, and an understanding of the needs of children and young people in care. Previous experience in children’s social care or residential settings, along with relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, or equivalent, is desirable.
Key responsibilities for the Support Worker role include promoting safeguarding and child protection policies, assisting with daily activities, facilitating educational and recreational activities, and offering emotional support tailored to individual needs. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the wellbeing and development of the children in your care.
Candidates should demonstrate resilience, compassion, and an ability to build positive relationships with children and colleagues. Flexibility and a proactive approach are essential, as is a commitment to ongoing professional development. This role involves working shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins, to ensure the children receive continuous support.
