In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

• Responsible for the development and testing of mechanical equipment for non-electrical equipment including steam, mechanical power generation, HVAC, hydraulics, instrumentation, tooling pollution control and other systems.

Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.

• Responsible for the assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of new or existing equipment, machinery, components, or applications.
• Provides quality‑control inspections to ensure proper mechanical processes.
• Records test data and ensures that mechanical failures are properly documented.
• May prepare technical drawings using CAD or other software for the design or modification of mechanical applications.
• Performs preventative maintenance schedules, diagnosing and fixing faults in equipment and machinery as assigned.
• Maintains engines and gear components, conveyor or packing equipment as well as robotic machinery as directed.
• Designs, develops, tests, and modifies related electric components, equipment, products, and services, applying electrical theory and related knowledge.
• Attends any job‑related training deemed necessary by supervision.
• Follows all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies.
• Performs general housekeeping duties as necessary.
• Performs other tasks assigned by management.

Knowledge, Experience,

Certifications:

Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis.

• Certification/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from accredited school (Associate Degree or equivalence).
• Lift Truck Certification preferred.
• Successful completion of all required on‑the‑job training.
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training.
• May be required to use department‑specific database systems such as CAD, Microsoft Suite.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the repair or operation of mechanical equipment.
• Technical certification preferred in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• One or more years of recent experience in repairing, maintaining, and installing mechanical machinery, systems, or applications.
• In‑depth knowledge of applicable building electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, boilers, generators, etc., and proficiency using all applicable tools and equipment.

• Operate in a team‑based environment.
• Good math skills.
• Read and understand technical documents and instructions such as blueprints, electrical schematics, mechanical and machine drawings for installations, troubleshooting and repair.
• Keep simple records and make reports.
• Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.

(Such as: American with Disabilities Act- ADA requirements for certain hourly positions).

• May require bending, squatting, climbing, and other physical movement for long periods.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Working around moving equipment and in an industrial environment.
• Working in an environment where there may be regular exposure to chemicals, noise from machinery, dust, fumes, and variable temperatures.
