Responsible for pickups and deliveries of inbound and outbound shipments to customer locations, using company vehicles at least 75% of the time. The employee will operate tractor‑trailers (greater than 26,000 lbs Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) within a 250 air‑mile radius of a DSV facility and begin and end the workday in the same location.
Principal Responsibilities- Verify shipping bills for required information and load freight onto trucks
- Unload freight from trucks and weigh/check dimensions compared to shipper’s calculations
- Perform and maintain daily safety checks related to the assigned vehicle
- Perform and maintain daily security checks related to freight being moved
- Deliver freight to customer locations using company vehicles
- Recover freight from customer locations using company vehicles
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Maintain radio or telephone contact
- Interact with warehouse / data center team members to maximize output and efficiency
- Adapt to frequent change requests due to a fast‑changing environment
- Ensure proper documentation for any hazardous materials being moved
- Inspect truck and trailer equipment to ensure roadworthiness and notify supervisor of current or anticipated repairs
- Use RF and/or computer system for trailer inventory control
- Meet all federal and state standards of qualification for commercial drivers, including but not limited to those set out by the Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Spend 25% of time on the job climbing; ascending or descending stairs, using feet, legs, hands, and arms.

- Possess a valid driver’s CDL Class A license
- Meet all federal and state standards of qualification for commercial drivers, including DOT and FMCS regulations.
- Meet and maintain the standards of physical qualifications for commercial fitness determination as set out in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations compulsory Medical Examination Report, including hearing and vision requirements, health and history and the body systems.
- Meet all federal and state standards of qualification for commercial drivers, including Haz‑Mat regulations.
This is an intermediate level position. Good interpersonal skills required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Generally prefer 3–6 years of experience. Must be able to read, decode, and decipher freight coding; conform with DMV and DOL driving requirements to operate hand trucks and forklifts; and perform tasks in inclement weather conditions.
