Bridgeport, CT | Full-Time | Temporary Project | Onsite
Do you enjoy walking into a situation that needs to be untangled?
We're partnering with a well-established Connecticut company that recently completed a significant systems transition and is looking for an experienced accounting professional to help bring several critical accounting processes across the finish line.
This isn't a transactional Accounts Payable role. We're looking for someone who enjoys digging into the details, researching discrepancies, reconciling accounts, and solving problems that others may have overlooked.
If you've ever been the person brought in to clean things up, identify root causes, and restore order to a busy accounting department, we'd love to speak with you.
What You'll Be Working OnReconcile and clean up vendor aging reports
Research outstanding balances, credits, unapplied payments, and discrepancies
Work through bank reconciliation backlogs and identify outstanding issues
Support audit preparation and assist with schedules and supporting documentation
Analyze accounting data to identify inconsistencies and recommend solutions
Investigate issues resulting from process changes and system transitions
Partner with accounting leadership to resolve outstanding items and improve accuracy
This is a hands-on project role focused on problem-solving rather than transaction processing.
You'll be trusted to:
Work independently
Prioritize issues and determine next steps
Identify root causes rather than simply correcting symptoms
Bring structure and organization to complex accounting situations
Take ownership of your work and drive projects to completion
Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including debits and credits
Experience with vendor reconciliations and Accounts Payable analysis
Bank reconciliation experience
Prior involvement in cleanup projects, system transitions, or backlog reduction efforts
Ability to analyze data and identify discrepancies
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where not every answer is immediately available
Someone who enjoys solving puzzles.
The ideal candidate is naturally curious, detail-oriented, and confident working through accounting issues independently. You don't need to be a Senior Accountant or CPA, but you do need a strong accounting foundation and the ability to work through complex reconciliations with minimal direction.
Why Consider This Project?Immediate impact and visibility
Interesting, hands-on accounting work
Opportunity to showcase your problem-solving abilities
Work directly with accounting leadership
Well-defined project with meaningful objectives and outcomes
If you're the type of accounting professional who enjoys rolling up your sleeves and bringing order to chaos, we'd love to hear from you.
