Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you a hands-on accounting leader who thrives on owning the month-end close, mentoring AR/AP staff, and working within robust ERP systems?

Bridgeport Worldwide is a profitable, $12M commercial distributor specializing in premium, high-performance door hardware solutions. We are a tight-knit team of ~25 people with a massive footprint in the high-end North American design and construction sector. We are currently seeking a dynamic Accounting Manager to take total ownership of our daily financial operations.
This is a flexible, ¾ to full time position.

In this role, you must be ready to dive into the details—You will directly lead and mentor a small accounting team, approve disbursements, drive the close process with fully supported work papers, and ensure strict GAAP compliance. If you love translating raw data into actionable financial strategies and have the ERP experience to help us maximize operational efficiency and profitability, we want you on our team.

WHAT MAKES YOU A FIT FOR BRIDGEPORT WORLDWIDE?
  • A Hands-On Leader: You have direct experience managing teams of 2-4 people, specifically overseeing Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) associates, and reviewing their daily activity for accuracy.
  • The "Owner of the Close": You are an expert at leading month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes from start to finish, including the preparation of fully supported, Excel-based work papers and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • An Acumatica Champion: You have hands-on, practical experience utilizing Acumatica ERP (or a highly comparable sophisticated system) to drive daily accounting functions and reporting.
  • Meticulous & Resilient: You possess an obsessive attention to detail, viewing risk management and audit preparation as critical safeguards. You remain steady under pressure and prioritize your team's growth during high-stress periods.
  • An Articulate "Translator": You easily explain complex financial realities (like cash flow forecasting) to non-finance executives in a way that is clear, collaborative, and actionable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Daily Operations & Supervision
    • Directly supervise, mentor, and review daily activity posted by AR and AP clerks to ensure absolute completeness and accuracy.
    • Review and approve all disbursements and bank transfers.
    • Assist the AP clerk with vendor management and the annual review and preparation of 1099s.
    • Reconcile cash and credit card accounts on a weekly basis.
    • Enter payroll into the general ledger.
  • Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
    • Own and direct the smooth execution of the month-end and year-end close processes.
    • Prepare monthly accrual-basis journal entries, fully supported Excel-based work papers, and comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Perform regular searches for unrecorded liabilities and post necessary adjustments.
    • Prepare weekly cash forecast reports and present findings to upper management.
  • Strategy, Compliance & Audit
    • Build annual budgets, monitor cash flow, and track spending variances against company goals.
    • Ensure strict adherence to US GAAP standards and manage internal controls.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, leading all audit preparation and documentation activities.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive financial/accounting leadership experience. (Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or B2B supply chain is a major plus).
  • Supervisory

    Required:

Proven experience leading a team of 2-4 individuals, specifically overseeing AR and AP activities.
  • Close Management

    Required:

Demonstrated ability to own the month/quarter/year-end close process, providing fully supported Excel-based reconciliations.
  • Systems

    Required:

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Hands-on experience with Acumatica ERP is preferred (or deep experience in a similar sophisticated ERP).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
  • Knowledge: Deep, practical knowledge of US GAAP.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • 401(k) and PTO
  • A collaborative, flexible environment that values your expertise. (

    Note:

This position requires dedication to meet critical deadlines, including extended hours during peak month-end close cycles).

Ready to lead the charge? If you want a role where you can guide a talented and supportive team, optimize an accounting environment, and have a tangible impact on delivering best-in-class architectural hardware across North America-

Bridgeport Worldwide strives to be a harassment-free and discrimination-free company, committed to equal opportunity. We believe people from different backgrounds, with different identities and experiences, make our service and our company better.
