About the Role

Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk for a contract opportunity with a school in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys supporting financial operations in an educational environment and is committed to maintaining accurate records and efficient business processes.

The Accounting Clerk will assist with a variety of accounting and administrative functions, supporting the school's business office and helping ensure smooth day-to-day financial operations.

Responsibilities

+ Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions

+ Enter invoices, payments, deposits, and journal entries into the accounting system

+ Assist with reconciling bank accounts and general ledger accounts

+ Maintain accurate financial records and student billing information

+ Process and track purchase orders and vendor payments

+ Prepare deposits and record cash receipts

+ Support month-end and year-end closing activities

+ Assist with payroll data entry and recordkeeping as needed

+ Generate financial reports and maintain spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel

+ File and organize accounting documents while ensuring confidentiality of financial information

Requirements

Qualifications

+ High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

+ 1+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial administrative experience

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software

+ Strong data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy

+ Excellent organizational and time management skills

+ Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills

+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

+ Previous experience in a school, nonprofit, or educational environment

+ Familiarity with student accounting, tuition billing, or school finance operations

+

Experience with account reconciliations and financial reporting

+ Knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures

Schedule

+ Full-time, Monday through Friday

+ Standard business hours

+ Contract assignment with immediate start available
