Tenure Track Assistant Professor, Computer Networks and Communications (2026–2027)
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Hartford seeks a tenure‑track assistant professor in Computer or Electrical Engineering focused on Computer Networks and Communications, beginning August 2026. Applicants should possess a doctoral degree and demonstrate excellence and dedication in teaching, research, service, and professional activities.
Responsibilities- Teach approximately three courses per semester in computing and engineering, subject to departmental needs, including opportunities to teach general education and interdisciplinary courses.
- Maintain an active scholarly research agenda with peer‑reviewed publications, presentations, or other professional accomplishments to support tenure and promotion.
- Provide service to the department, college, and university, including advising students, supporting student recruitment and retention, advising capstone projects, and participating in program accreditation.
- Demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence and foster a vibrant campus community where all students, staff, and faculty feel empowered to flourish.
- Earned doctorate in Computer Engineering or a related discipline. ABDs with a documented completion date may be considered.
- Experience teaching undergraduate engineering disciplines.
- Potential to build an independent research program in computer networks and communications that engages undergraduate students.
- Potential to mentor students from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience or interest in course and curriculum development.
- Experience or interest in student recruitment, retention, and career preparation.
- Professional experience in computer networks and communications, such as Cisco certification.
