Associate, Content Specialist; Temporary

Job Summary

The position of Content Specialist (Temporary) reports to the Managing Director, Leadership Development. The role supports Teach For America Connecticut corps members during the 2026-27 school year by planning and delivering professional learning communities (PLCs) to enhance teaching practice in selected content areas.

Location:

Connecticut. Final date to receive applications: rolling review through July 20, 2026.

• Design, plan, and facilitate four in‑person PLC sessions each month (~10-15 teachers) during August, October, February, and May.
• Lead two virtual PLC sessions in November/December and March/April.
• Model effective teaching strategies and data‑driven instruction.
• Track attendance, send reminders, and follow‑up with participants.
• Collaborate with TFA staff to plan content, analyze trends, and adjust programming.
• Document and share session plans and materials with TFA staff.
• Provide subject‑area context and 1:1 mentoring as needed.
• Submit monthly timesheets and related administrative tasks.

• Minimum 3 years teaching experience in elementary or secondary education.
• Content‑area expertise in at least one of:
  Elementary (K-5), Humanities (Secondary ELA + Social Studies), STEM (Secondary Math + Science), Special Education (K-12).
• Strong planning and execution skills and familiarity with Common Core.
• Proficiency with assessment and tracking tools for student progress.
• Ability to use data to inform instruction and improve achievement.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and relationship‑building skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

• Experience with in‑person facilitation and mentoring novice educators.
• Experience coordinating with leadership and managing up.
• Prior experience in adult professional learning or teacher training.

• Attend all in‑person PLC engagements during Corps Saturdays.
• Provide 20–30 hours of committed work over the 2026-27 school year.

$28.03 per hour with 20–30 total hours expected during the 2026-27 school year. Compensation is determined based on role responsibilities.
