Position Summary

Precious Memories Early Childhood Learning Center is seeking an experienced, passionate, and highly organized Preschool Director to lead the daily operations of our early childhood program. The ideal candidate is a strong instructional leader with extensive knowledge of Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) licensing regulations, curriculum implementation, child assessment, staff supervision, and family engagement.

The Preschool Director will ensure that our program maintains the highest standards of quality, safety, compliance, and educational excellence while fostering a positive and supportive environment for children, families, and staff.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (Master's Degree preferred)
  • Connecticut Head Teacher and/or Director qualifications as required by OEC
  • Minimum of 3 years of preschool leadership or administrative experience
  • Strong knowledge of Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) Licensing Regulations
  • Experience supervising and coaching teachers
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and childcare management software (Procare preferred)
Required Knowledge and Experience

Candidates must demonstrate working knowledge and experience with:

  • Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS)
  • Documentation and Observation for Teaching System (DOTS)
  • Connecticut Documentation and Observation for Teaching System (CT DOTS)
  • Creative Curriculum
  • Connecticut Preschool Assessment Framework
  • Lesson planning aligned with CT ELDS
  • Child observation and developmental documentation
  • Individualized learning plans
  • Family engagement and conferences
  • Classroom coaching and instructional support
  • NAEYC Accreditation Standards (preferred)
  • Pyramid Model for Social Emotional Competence
  • Health and Safety regulations
  • Staff professional development planning
Essential Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operation of the preschool program.
  • Ensure compliance with all OEC licensing regulations and program policies.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate teaching staff.
  • Review lesson plans to ensure alignment with CT ELDS and Creative Curriculum.
  • Monitor teacher implementation of CT DOTS observations and child documentation.
  • Ensure developmental assessments and child portfolios are completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain required child and staff records.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide instructional coaching.
  • Support children's social-emotional development using evidence-based practices.
  • Develop and monitor staff professional development plans.
  • Build positive relationships with families and community partners.
  • Maintain staff schedules and classroom ratios.
  • Coordinate parent conferences, family engagement events, and program activities.
  • Prepare for licensing visits, audits, and accreditation reviews.
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and administrative team to achieve organizational goals.
