Health Explorer Facilitator
Job Overview: The Health Explorers Facilitator is responsible for supporting and coordinating BCYL's Health Explorers Workforce Development Pathway, a program designed to expose high school students to careers in healthcare while developing the skills needed for future academic and professional success.
Reports To:
Director of Operations
- Recruit high school students and maintain accurate participant registration and enrollment records (electronic and paper).
- Maintain and prepare participant data, including attendance, pre- and post-program surveys, workforce readiness assessments, and outcome tracking.
- Coordinate and communicate recruitment, registration, and career exploration events with students, families, schools, and community stakeholders.
- Facilitate participant engagement and support student success throughout the Health Explorers program.
- Assist with parent and family engagement through in-person, virtual, and electronic communication.
- Coordinate career exploration opportunities, including guest speakers, healthcare facility visits, college tours, and workforce development activities.
- Communicate and collaborate with healthcare and educational partners, including Housatonic Community College, St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport Hospital, and other workforce development partners to coordinate programming and troubleshoot issues.
- Support participants in exploring healthcare careers, postsecondary education opportunities, certifications, and workforce pathways.
- Attend scheduled planning meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with program evaluation, reporting requirements, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- A strong commitment to BCYL's mission and a passion for helping youth explore educational and career opportunities in healthcare. Demonstrates professionalism, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, community partners, and healthcare professionals.
This position requires travel to local high schools, colleges, healthcare facilities, community partner locations, and the BCYL office. The Health Explorers Facilitator will work directly with students, families, educational institutions, and healthcare professionals in both classroom and community-based settings. Program activities are primarily conducted during evening hours, and regular evening availability is required. Occasional weekend hours may also be necessary to support program events, workforce development activities, and partner engagements.
