Adult Education Instructor - Science

2026 - 2027 School Year Bridgeport Public Schools Human Resources Department ADULT EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR- SCIENCE Adult Learning CTR 12hrs a week/$45 an hour/31 weeks

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Connecticut State Certified teacher with a 7-12 General Science (030), Chemistry (031), Physics (032), Earth Science (033) or Biology (034) certification
• Adult Education Endorsement (106) - can apply upon hire.
• Experience in the use of educational technology.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Provide standards-based lessons that provide opportunity for problem solving. Creativity and communication skills in relation to authentic, real-world skills.
• Plan learning activities that differentiate instruction and address individual differences among students.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interest, and abilities of adult learners.
• Develops, administers, and evaluates quality formative and summative assessments that reflect a balance of content knowledge and problem-solving skills.
• Monitors, and evaluates students' progress in relation to the Adult Education College and Career Readiness Standards (CRS) curriculum and policies and other planned goals and objectives.
• Work as a team member to assist students in meeting academic goals.
• Commit to on-going professional development in content area and pedagogy.
