Our client, a highly reputable private equity firm with approximately $5B in assets under management, is seeking a Private Equity Controller to join its finance leadership team. This individual will oversee the accounting, reporting, and operational functions across multiple private equity funds and related management company entities.

The role offers significant exposure to senior leadership, investors, and portfolio company activity, making it ideal for a technically strong and commercially minded finance professional with deep private equity fund accounting experience.

• Oversee all fund accounting and financial reporting activities for multiple private equity vehicles, co-investments, and GP entities
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including investor allocations, capital activity, and NAV reporting
• Review capital calls, distributions, waterfall calculations, carried interest allocations, and management fee computations
• Coordinate quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and partnership agreements
• Lead interactions with external fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel
• Review portfolio company valuations and support valuation committee processes in accordance with firm policies and fair value guidance
• Oversee cash management, treasury activity, and liquidity planning across fund structures
• Ensure compliance with limited partnership agreements, regulatory requirements, and internal controls
• Partner with investor relations and operations teams to support LP reporting requests and due diligence inquiries
• Manage and mentor accounting staff while helping drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational scalability
• Assist with new fund launches, entity structuring, and onboarding of investment vehicles

• CPA required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 10+ years of experience within private equity fund accounting, audit, or fund finance
• Prior experience at a private equity firm, fund administrator, or public accounting firm with strong alternative investment clients required
• Strong understanding of partnership accounting, waterfall calculations, carried interest, and investment valuation methodologies
• Experience reviewing complex legal agreements and fund structures
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with fund accounting platforms preferred
• Proven leadership and team management experience
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with investment professionals, executives, and external stakeholders

• Big 4 public accounting foundation preferred
• Experience with closed-end private equity funds and complex investment structures
• Exposure to regulatory filings, or management company accounting is a plus
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial investment environment
