Chief Financial Officer
Join a mission driven nonprofit organization where financial leadership directly supports essential community services and long term organizational sustainability. The Chief Financial Officer serves as a strategic partner to the President/CEO and a key member of the Senior Management Team, overseeing financial strategy, operational performance, and fiscal stewardship across complex nonprofit funding streams.
This role leads all financial operations including budgeting, financial reporting, audit oversight, grant compliance, revenue management, and capital planning while partnering closely with executive leadership and the Board to guide strategic decision making.
What You'll Do
- Lead all financial operations including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Oversee development of annual operating and capital budgets
- Monitor financial performance across programs and service lines
- Develop and maintain financial policies, internal controls, and accounting procedures
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and audit requirements
- Oversee preparation and reporting of public and private grant funding
- Lead the annual agency audit and manage relationships with external auditors
- Partner with the President/CEO and executive leadership on financial strategy
- Serve as financial liaison to the Board Finance Committee
- Oversee billing, collections, and revenue performance across funding sources
- Strengthen financial reporting and revenue cycle processes
- Develop cash flow planning to support operational stability
- Support capital planning and organizational growth initiatives
Experience You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- CPA or MBA strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
- Prior experience serving as Chief Financial Officer or senior nonprofit finance leader
- Strong expertise in nonprofit accounting and fund accounting
- Extensive experience managing restricted and unrestricted funding sources
- Experience overseeing complex grant funding and government contracts
- Proven leadership managing audits and regulatory compliance
- Strong working knowledge of FASB and nonprofit financial reporting standards
- Experience partnering with executive leadership and Boards of Directors
- Background in mission driven organizations operating in regulated or government funded environments
- Familiarity with healthcare, human services, or similar service based nonprofit sectors is a strong plus
- Experience with Medicaid or Medicare reimbursement environments is a plus
