The State of Connecticut, Department of Motor Vehicles is now seeking its agency employees to fill the positions of Motor Vehicle Agent Supervisor.

Motor Vehicle Agent Supervisors work in a fast-paced, customer-service-driven environment at a Motor Vehicle Branch Office, supporting a high volume of face‑to‑face customer interactions. The successful candidate will serve as a working supervisor, leading staff in daily operations, providing strong leadership, and maintaining a positive and productive work environment.

In this role, you will oversee staff engaged in administering motor vehicle operator licensing exams, inspecting vehicles, responding to customer concerns, and reviewing documentation. You will also be responsible for training new hires, keeping your team up to date on changes in policies and procedures, and ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery.

The Connecticut DMV's mission is to promote and advance public safety, security, and service through the regulation of drivers, their motor vehicles, and vehicle‑related businesses.

In order to be considered for this job opening you must be a current State of CT employee of the agency listed above for at least six (6) months of full‑time service or full‑time equivalent service, absent any applicable collective bargaining language, and meet the Minimum Qualifications as listed on the job opening. In the Department of Motor Vehicles this class is accountable for performing as a working supervisor for staff engaged in administering motor vehicle operator licensing exams, supporting emissions testing, inspecting vehicles, responding to customer complaints and/or regulating business licensing programs.

• Plans unit workflow and determines priorities;
• Schedules, assigns, oversees, and reviews work;
• Establishes and maintains unit procedures;
• Provides staff training and assistance;
• Conducts or assists in conducting performance evaluations;
• Acts as liaison with operating units, agencies, and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures;
• Reviews and evaluates courtesy and attitude toward the public;
• Keeps records and submits pertinent reports;
• Interprets motor vehicle laws and regulations for the public;
• May make public presentations;
• Performs related duties as required.

Assigns, reviews, and participates in administration of motor vehicle operator license examinations, safety inspections of motor vehicles, and regulation of commercial and secondary driving school functions.

Assigns, reviews, and participates in administration of the waiver processing function, contractor monitoring, and customer service activities within the emissions inspection program.

Assigns, reviews, and participates in the safety inspections of all types of motor vehicles, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) verifications, and researching and resolving complex customer service issues.

Considerable knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply state and federal motor vehicle laws;
