The Bench Repair Technician role is located in Bridgeport, WV. It is an on‑site position that works the 2nd shift (Monday–Thursday, 3:30pm–1:30am). U.S. citizenship is required; no security clearance is needed. The position is safety‑sensitive under FAA regulations and includes drug and alcohol testing per FAA and 49
CFR requirements.
- Perform repair and rework operations on gas turbine engine sub-assemblies and related detailed parts.
- Work from drawings, manuals, specifications, and detailed instructions.
- Use fixed gauges to check fits, alignments, clearances, and other specified requirements.
- Operate hand and automatic riveting machines.
- Operate a small lathe, drill press, and Blanchard grinder.
- Check fit and clearance, install bushings and sleeve bags (perform shrink fitting operations).
- Visually inspect work.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist in repair of equipment and tooling.
- Provide input for tool modifications and introduce improved processing techniques to increase departmental efficiencies.
- Provide guidance, training, and assistance to others.
- Use decimals and fractions to interpret drawings, specifications, and manuals and to take readings from measuring instruments.
- Provide routine support in areas outside Bench Repair (CMM, Vane Flow & Tweak, grinding, A and B weld tests, peening).
- Remove weight from impeller for balancing.
- Comply with company work rules, safe work practices, and environmental procedures; report unsafe acts and hazardous conditions.
- Adhere to RTX's Code of Ethics and report violations of the code.
- Perform all other related duties as required or assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in aftermarket aviation, machining, automotive, or a similar trades role.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Prior trade school training.
- Prior experience in an OEM/Aftermarket aviation role.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Proficiency with a variety of hand tools.
