Job Description SummaryA Nursing Supervisor is a licensed professional who provides direct and indirect patient care services under a physician’s plan of care, following the policies and procedures of Option Care Health and regulatory standards. The role involves overseeing complete patient assessment, care planning, education, progress evaluation, and recommending plan changes. The Nursing Supervisor also serves as a clinical leader and may act as the alternate administrator or director of nursing in a Medicare Certified Home Health agency.
Job Responsibilities- Competently manage home infusion patients, including patient management skills, nursing process, and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Document and bill home health/infusion care goods and services accurately.
- Determine patient suitability for home care.
- Supervise, monitor, and evaluate quality and effectiveness of patient care, including home evaluations of field staff.
- Review and monitor nursing care plans, directing staff to modify plans as needed.
- Act as Administrator and/or Director of Nursing for Medicare‑certified agencies when the director or manager of nursing is absent.
- Manage daily operations, communications, and ensure compliance with regulations and accreditation entities, including reporting requirements and medical supply usage.
- Participate in assessing, managing, and reporting nursing operational and financial data to the Regional Nurse Manager, Area Director of Nursing, and/or Director of Operations; support development and implementation of the plan of care.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and participate in office‑specific continuing education, orientation programs, recruitment, development, and monitoring of new staff; coordinate on‑call responsibilities and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Serve as a member or director of professional advisory committees, infection prevention and process improvement teams, conduct chart audits, identify improvement opportunities, and communicate findings to leadership; provide support to sales professionals.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Registered Nurse with a current state license and at least 1 year of nursing supervisory or charge experience, or 3 years of relevant nursing experience with demonstrated progression.
- Certified in CPR.
- Member of a state or national professional organization.
- Reliable transportation for home visits, including valid driver’s license and proof of insurance for vehicle.
- Experience with local, state, federal, accrediting body, and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Customer‑service experience with internal and external clients, meeting quality standards and evaluating satisfaction.
- Experience in indirect management of team members, assisting in development, training, and assignment of work/projects.
- Strong time‑management skills: prioritizing, organizing, tracking details, and meeting deadlines for multiple projects.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to accomplish goals with minimal supervision, escalating issues when necessary.
Willing to travel at least 50% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs)- BSN.
- CRNI or other professional certification.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a hospital or home health care setting.
- At least 1 year of indirect management experience with team members.
