Position Overview
The UHC‑Registered Nurse (RN) WEP Nights‑ED is responsible for the delivery of nursing care through the use of the nursing process. The incumbent applies competent clinical knowledge, uses independent nursing judgment, and accepts accountability for care provided by themselves and by health care providers to whom care is delegated to achieve quality patient care outcomes. Duties are performed within the scope of a Registered Nurse (RN) – Level I & II as defined.
CoreDuties and Responsibilities
- Prioritizes patient diagnosis, problems, and issues and aligns goals to meet the needs of the patient and healthcare team.
- Serves as a resource for patient and family learning needs.
- Coordinates with the interprofessional team to manage changing priorities.
- Functions as an independent team member to provide safe, quality care for consumers/patients.
- Mentors colleagues in acquisition of clinical knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgment.
- Participates in system improvement of patient care planning processes.
- Leads interprofessional teams to collaborate and consult effectively.
- Designs innovations to improve outcomes.
- Assists other nurses to develop research skills.
- Participates in collaborative planning for safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered health care.
- Participates in development, implementation, and review of policies that promote patient health and safety.
- Advocates for healthcare consumer rights to inform decision making and self‑determination.
- Demonstrates leadership skills within the community/healthcare arena.
- Engages consumer and team members in holistic, culturally sensitive data collection.
- Integrates knowledge from global and environmental factors into assessment.
- Identifies resources/actions to address cultural situations appropriately.
- Recognizes personal bias.
- Disseminates educational findings and experiences with colleagues.
- Demonstrates commitment to lifelong learning.
- Identifies appropriate resources for ethical dilemmas and advances ethical nursing practice.
- Demonstrates charge nurse and/or precepting experience for new staff or nursing students.
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:
- Current registered nurse license issued by the state where services are provided or current multi‑state RN license via the Nurse Licensure Compact.
- Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
Experience:
- Two (2) years of registered nursing experience.
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher.
Physical Requirements
Schedule:
Weekend nights (United States of America). 36 weekly hours, non‑exempt. Physical demands include lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials and equipment weighing 40+ lbs. Visual and hearing acuity must be within normal range. Safe patient handling equipment used for lifts above 35 lbs.
