American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a Level II Trauma Center requiring ONS/ONCC chemotherapy certification and a CT or compact RN license.
Details- Inpatient oncology unit within a short-term acute care hospital
- 426 staffed beds with Level II Trauma Center designation
- Part of the Yale New Haven Health System
- Day shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
- Every other weekend and holidays required as needed
- Floating to other Med/Surg units required when needed
- EPIC EMR used for charting
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Active CT or compact RN license required
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required with no exceptions
- OCN certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required (1.5 years considered for candidates with Level I trauma or travel nursing experience)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- Skilled in chemotherapy administration, port access/management, central line care, and IV therapy
- Experience recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis)
- Knowledge of care for various cancer types including breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, and lymphoma
- 1 professional reference required for consideration
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only
- Provide direct patient care to oncology patients including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- Manage oncologic emergencies and recognize abnormal lab values
- Support patient and family education regarding cancer treatment and side effect management
- Perform wound care, ostomy management, and neutropenic precautions as needed
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
- Local candidates not accepted; candidates within 75 miles of the hospital are considered local
- Former staff members must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
- First-time travelers may be considered if they meet the required specialty experience
- Travelers may be asked to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as part of the assignment
