Position Summary
The Technician I, FSQA-Bakery is a contributing member of the team-oriented FSQA process, including responsibility for protecting the food by conducting food safety and quality sampling, testing, and completing required documentation to meet J&J Snacks Foods requirements.
Essential FunctionsConduct food safety and quality assurance procedures to ensure J&J Snacks Foods is in compliance with expectations for food safety and quality. Demonstrate J&J Snack Foods core values with integrity, take ownership of work, proactively identify customer needs, generate creative ideas, and promote a safe environment for people and foods. Understand and implement the Food Safety and Quality Objectives, Global Food Safety and Quality Policy, and 21 CFR 117 Subpart B Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Prerequisite and Preventive Control Programs, and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
Perform pre‑operational inspections with cross‑functional teams, including physical bakery inspections such as GMP, hygiene, food safety, foreign material, etc. Identify non‑conforming raw materials, semi‑finished, and finished foods. Communicate human, food, or equipment safety concerns to supervision immediately. Support the Hazard Analysis & Risk‑Based Preventive Controls Food Safety Team in implementing a food safety plan focused on the elimination of biological, chemical, physical, and economically motivated hazards.
Conduct sampling, testing, and documentation of J&J Snacks Foods procedures and records. Verify net weight policy and MAV limits, lot traceability, packaging and raw ingredient coding, coding of finished foods, and recipe verification against manufacturing specifications. Verify document control and record completion procedures and ensure adherence to J&J Snacks Foods policies including GMP, hygiene and personnel practices program, allergen control, preventive control program, and non‑conformance program.
- Effective work ethic.
- Ability to operate scales, metal detection and imaging devices (if applicable), ovens, and other instrumentation and measuring devices.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and math skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Outlook and Excel.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage and execute changes effectively.
- Strong communication, writing, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Proficiency Level
Required:
High School Diploma.
Preferred: Some college science courses or experience in the food industry. 1–2 years related experience.
As needed.
US Hourly Pay Range$18.50 – $20 USD
