Are you a master of ultra-precision metrology who thrives in a zero-tolerance environment? We are seeking a Quality Engineer to oversee shop-floor quality operations for high-precision machine tools, jig grinding, and aerospace/defense contract manufacturing. In this role, you will lead daily in-process and final inspections, serve as the technical authority on complex GD&T, and ensure unwavering compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.

- Oversee day-to-day in-process and final inspection workflows, balancing production schedules with rigorous sub-micron precision standards.
- Execute complex dimensional, geometric, and visual inspections of critical aerospace/defense components using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), optical comparators, and micro-precision hand tools.
- Interpret complex blueprints, models, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) callouts to validate part conformity.
- Identify, document, and quarantine non-conforming materials. Lead root-cause analysis (e.g., 5-Why, 8D) and coordinate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) with engineering and shop floor teams.
- Ensure daily quality practices strictly align with ISO 9001, AS9100, and defense-industry regulatory standards, representing the metrology department during internal and external audits.
- Manage the calibration schedule for all measuring instruments, gages, and testing equipment, maintaining full traceability to national standards (NIST).
- Collaborate directly with jig grinding specialists, CNC machinists, and engineers to troubleshoot machining anomalies and refine manufacturing processes before non-conformances occur.
- Program CMM to create custom parts, using Calypso
- Compile, review, and sign off on First Article Inspection reports (AS9102 compliant) for initial production runs and modified precision customer components.
