Position SummaryThe Marine Sales Associate will drive outside sales, cultivate and maintain customer relationships, and sell Hornblower Marine’s equipment such as marine engines, generators, and control systems. The role requires travel to customer sites, showcasing product benefits, and demonstrating both on‑site and off‑the-Shipyard’s capabilities. Collaboration with other departments is essential to meet client needs and achieve business goals.
The ideal candidate has a proven background in outside sales, distribution of industrial or heavy equipment, and knowledge of high‑speed diesel engines and marine equipment. The position leads sales in the Mid‑Atlantic region for Moteurs Baudouin engines and supported brands.
Residence in the NY/CT area is preferred for frequent visits to the Bridgeport office; sales territory spans from NY to VA.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company goals and expand the customer base
- Identify and cultivate relationships with potential clients, including ship owners, operators, and marine industry stakeholders
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing marine clients to ensure repeat business and customer satisfaction
- Develop iterative targets, strategic sales plans, and goals as needed to meet monthly KPIs
- Track and report on sales performance metrics, including revenue targets, sales pipelines, and customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with internal teams—sales, customer service, engineering, and operations—to develop comprehensive proposals and bids for clients
- Prepare and deliver presentations to clients, highlighting the company’s capabilities, services, and value proposition
- Maintain the CRM system, make outbound calls, and prioritize long‑term client relationships over short‑term gains
- Stay informed about relevant regulations, standards, and best practices to ensure compliance and quality standards
- Travel to project and customer sites within the US Mid‑Atlantic states and internationally approximately 75% of the time
- Represent Hornblower Marine professionally while improving the territory’s professionalism
- Additional duties as assigned
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in the maritime industry
- Extensive experience building and maintaining relationships with clients in the maritime sector
- Strong understanding of the maritime industry, including trends and key players
- Experience in distribution, industrial, or heavy equipment, and knowledge of high‑speed diesel engines
- Familiarity with shipbuilding, marine engineering, propulsion systems, and related technical aspects
- Understanding of sales techniques
- Experience negotiating and closing contracts and agreements
- Willingness to adapt to changing market conditions, customer preferences, and industry regulations
- Strong communication skills—verbal and written—to negotiate, build relationships, and convey information
- Experience with Word, Excel, and document management systems
- Thrives in a fast‑paced environment
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid US passport
- Physical ability to board vessels, enter confined spaces, and climb stairs or ladders of varying heights for inspections
