Position SummaryThe Security Guard is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of employees, patients, visitors, and property, while helping to identify and address hazardous or unsafe conditions.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities- Patrol premises and monitor surveillance equipment to maintain a safe and secure environment
- Inspect buildings, equipment, and access points while permitting authorized entry
- Report irregularities, policy violations, and unsafe conditions
- Assist in preventing loss or damage to property
- Open and secure health center facilities, including activating/deactivating security systems and lights
- Unlock designated doors for staff entry and secure buildings at the close of business
- Follow evacuation procedures as directed by the Director of Facilities
- Work according to department schedules and staffing needs
- Attend departmental and organization-wide meetings as required
- Comply with organizational policies, Infection Control standards, OSHA regulations, and DPH requirements
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
- Knowledge of public safety procedures and security operations
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and follow instructions
- Ability to interact professionally and tactfully with patients, families, staff, visitors, and the general public
- Ability to work respectfully with individuals who may have impaired cognition
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Two to three years of security experience required
- Flexibility to work - days, evenings, and weekends as needed
- Ability to work at multiple locations if needed
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, but not required
- Valid Connecticut driver's license required
- Active Connecticut State Guard Card required
