Position Overview
Part‑time Building and Grounds Patrol Officer at Bullard Havens Technical High School, Bridgeport, CT. The position is for 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM. It is a ten‑month assignment, returning to work once school resumes after the summer break.

- Enforce regulations relating to parking and traffic control as established by the assigned agency
- Direct traffic on state property
- Issue tickets for violations
- Provide information and assistance to visitors
- Guard entrances and exits to prevent trespass, vandalism, theft and other violations
- Perform routine vehicle and foot patrol duty and monitor security alarms to detect theft and other criminal acts
- Provide security escorts
- Provide first aid when necessary
- Perform dispatching and record‑keeping functions at a desk post
Any experience or training that provides the skills and abilities indicated above.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience working in a security field
- Experience working security in a school
- Experience performing foot patrol duty within a school
- Experience checking visitors at a post or desk using a security database
- Experience providing escorts within a school
- May be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
- May be required to obtain and maintain a Standard First Aid Certificate and/or CPR certification.
Applicants must have general good health, be free from disease or injury impairing health or usefulness, and possess sufficient physical strength, stamina, agility, endurance, and visual and auditory acuity required to perform all duties of the class. A physical examination may be required.
Working ConditionsIncumbents may be exposed to the discomforts of working outdoors, prolonged walking and standing, and some danger of injury while performing duty.
