Job Description & How to Apply Below
We’re hiring a Connecticut‑licensed electrician (E‑1 or E‑2) to perform residential and commercial generator installations — from home standby units to three‑phase commercial systems. This is hands‑on field work for someone who knows transfer switches, service upgrades, and code inside and out, and who represents the company professionally on every customer’s property.
Responsibilities- Install, wire, and commission residential and commercial standby generators — Generac, Kohler, Cummins, Briggs & Stratton, and comparable brands
- Install and integrate automatic and manual transfer switches (ATS/MTS) with the electrical service
- Perform load calculations and configure whole‑home, managed‑load, or essential‑circuit setups based on the customer’s needs
- Complete service and panel upgrades, sub‑panels, and service‑entrance work as required to support the installation
- Run conduit, pull wire, and set up grounding and bonding to NEC (NFPA 70) and Connecticut electrical code
- Coordinate fuel‑source readiness (natural gas / LP) with the plumbing/gas trades and handle site prep such as pads and mounting
- Start up, test, and commission units — program controllers and exercisers and verify transfer operation under load
- Troubleshoot, service, and repair existing standby systems on service and warranty calls
- Read and work from blueprints, one‑line diagrams, and electrical schematics on commercial projects
- Active Connecticut E‑1 (Unlimited Contractor) or E‑2 (Unlimited Journeyperson) electrical license in good standing — required
- Experience installing or servicing standby generators and transfer switches (strongly preferred)
- Working knowledge of the NEC and Connecticut electrical code, load calculations, and service/panel work
- Comfort with single‑phase residential and — for commercial work — three‑phase systems
- Valid Connecticut driver’s license and clean driving record (company vehicle provided)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varied conditions
- Professional, customer‑facing communication and a safety‑first mindset
- Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
- Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
- Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
- Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
