Job Description & How to Apply Below

A well-established generator sales, installation, and service company is looking for a Project Manager to take ownership of residential and commercial standby generator projects from the first customer conversation through a completed, commissioned installation.

Leads arrive warm through the company’s network, referrals, and marketing. From there, the Project Manager consults with the homeowner or facility contact on what they are trying to protect and what the site will support, prepares and presents the quote, lines up the subcontractors, and manages the installation schedule through startup. The customer, the electrician, and the inspector all end up leaning on this person.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work inbound leads and referrals across residential and commercial accounts in the territory; qualify the opportunity and consult with the customer on load requirements, equipment sizing, and fuel type.
  • Conduct site evaluations covering load calculations, service entrance conditions, transfer switch location, fuel supply, generator placement, and code or setback constraints.
  • Build, price, and present project quotes; follow up through the decision cycle and close the sale.
  • Source, schedule, and manage subcontractors — electrical, concrete, gas/propane, excavation, and crane as required — and hold them to scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Coordinate equipment orders, lead times, and delivery with suppliers and distributors.
  • Own the installation calendar and keep customers informed at every milestone from deposit to commissioning.
  • Manage permitting, utility coordination, and inspection scheduling with the authority having jurisdiction.
  • Track budget against actuals, handle change orders, and close projects out cleanly with documentation and warranty registration.
  • Serve as the single point of contact and accountable owner for every project in your pipeline.
  • E-2 or E-1 electrical license strongly preferred; journeyman or master electrician credentials will also be considered.
  • Three or more years managing electrical, generator, or comparable construction and installation projects — residential, commercial, or both.
  • Working knowledge of standby generator systems, automatic transfer switches, load calculations, and applicable NEC requirements.
  • Demonstrated comfort quoting work and selling to end customers; this role carries revenue responsibility, not just execution.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and navigating permitting and inspection processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication — you will be translating technical detail for homeowners and facility managers who do not speak the language.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Company Truck
  • Company Phone
  • Compensation: $80,000 - 95,000 salary
  • Variable Compensation Per Installation: $10,000 - 20,000+
