About The Position
Become a part of our Transdev team as an Operations and Safety Manager in Bridgeport, CT. This position assists the General Manager in supervising daily operations, monitoring employee performance, overseeing the safety and training department, identifying safety issues, and addressing operational needs. Salary range: $74,.
- Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks

- Assist the General Manager in the day‑to‑day operational oversight of location operations, including safety, human resources, and finance.
- Administer driver hiring and compliance process (interviews, selections, applications, criminal background checks).
- Participate directly in hiring, developing, and disciplining drivers and staff.
- Focus on safety, accidents, and customer complaint resolution.
- Provide reports and analyses, including safety trends; develop cost‑saving recommendations; perform other duties and projects as assigned.
- Assume first‑line supervision of location employees; ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
- Monitor and evaluate operations activities, including vehicle on‑time statistics, missed runs, customer complaint data, accident data, road call data, and other operations‑related functions.
- Provide direction and guidance to location trainers; develop and monitor classroom training content to ensure compliance; teach classes and schedule re‑certification and retraining.
- Assist drivers and attendants with passenger management and safety‑related issues.
- Perform all other duties as assigned and may assist with other areas based on location needs.
- Three years’ experience in paratransit operations is preferred.
- Three years of transit supervisory experience.
- National Safety Council Defensive Driving Instructor certification or similar safety certification.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for demand response transportation services (FTA, DOT, ADA, Drug & Alcohol, DOJ Title VI, State DOT regulations).
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage time effectively.
- Ability to interact appropriately with employees at all levels, including drivers, customers, senior management, client representatives, union officials, and the public.
- Work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, if needed.
- Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Subject to DOT drug testing; DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
- Be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
- Successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
