Outside Plant Engineering CAD Technician

Job Summary

This position is responsible for Telecommunication Outside Plant engineering work order preparation (Electronic Drafting) from Field notes provided by Citynet Outside Plant Engineers. Technicians will be tasked with creating construction and record drawings for both small- and large-scale projects using engineering/survey data and GIS tools to assist in drawing development.

• Drafting of facility design including CO, OSP, and CPE.
• Drafting of design for pole line, Fiber, FTTX, PON, Ethernet.
• Maintain all Engineering, Drafting, and Facilities records through work order preparation and processing, including design and closeout of facilities assignments.
• Responsible for the operation of all applicable current computerized operations and CAD systems such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Map 3D.

• Work closely with Citynet engineering teams in the research of facility assignments and drawing development process.
• Assist with data entry in Citynet’s fiber management software as needed.
• Analyze, interpret, and process survey data as for the drafting process.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as to fulfill job function or as assigned.

• Previous experience in a production drafting setting is preferred.
• General office practices and procedures.
• Must closely adhere to drawing standards as outlined by the Engineering Department.
• Must have a good working knowledge of AutoCAD software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Map 3D) – Previous experience with GIS programs is strongly desired.
• Experience with Microsoft Word & Excel is .
• Time management, critical thinking, attention to detail, teamwork, and organizational skills are a must. The ability to quickly learn and adapt to new standards is vital.
