Responsibilities
- Focus on ensuring regulatory compliance, conduct site monitoring, and assess and assist with environmental remediation.
- Engage with Environmental Specialist II or above to complete tasks, support permit applications, compliance reporting, reviewing and analyzing data, etc.
- Serve as the initial contact to organize and maintain applicable records within the Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) recordkeeping system.
- Provide first‑level technical and administrative support for environmental remedial investigations and incident and complaint responses.
- Report all non‑compliant conditions to Environmental Supervisor in a timely fashion and assist with documentation and preparation of technical work plans to support environmental programs and processes.
- Expand knowledge of new regulations and legislation on a consistent basis.
- Conduct routine inspections for environmental compliance as needed to maintain permits and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
- Field of Study:
Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
- Possess basic knowledge of fundamental environmental programs, theories, concepts, techniques, procedures and practices.
- Entry level awareness and general knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations regarding the CWA Section 404 and 401, USACOE, USFWS, SHPO, SPCC, NPDES, Clean Air Act and Hazardous and Solid Waste Rules (RCRA).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, etc., and use/operation of standard office equipment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to converse with staff, management, contractors and operations using appropriate and effective communication tools.
- Demonstrate initiative and the ability to solve problems. Ability to collaborate and work with multiple teams.
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks under general direction.
- Good time management and organizational skills to meet set deadlines.
- Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and tools.
- Able to recognize and apply safety processes and procedures.
- Possess valid driver’s license and clean driving record (MVR) that meet Company’s Insurance qualifications to operate Company vehicle.
- Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.
- Job is performed in both the office and in the field work environment. Approximately 20% in the office and 80% in the field.
- Regular business hours.
- Available for on‑call for urgent issues or emergencies during off hours, as needed.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- Minimally lift, push, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly be able to bend, stoop, crouch, etc.
- Frequent traversing through challenging terrain to perform work, evaluate sites and conditions, inspect equipment/assets, etc.
- Minimal travel may be required to other locations.
- Frequent travel to Company’s field operations and/or offices. Approximately 80% of time in field.
