Purpose of the roleMHIRJ’s network of service centers, support offices and parts depots are positioned in important aviation hubs in the U.S. The Structures Technician performs thorough inspections of aircraft structures, identifying and documenting any signs of damage or wear while complying with environmental health, safety policies, and procedures.
Daily responsibilities- Execute sheet metal repairs and modifications on various structural components, including but not limited to the wing, fuselage, and tail sections.
- Fabricate and/or modify structural modifications on aircraft parts.
- Perform minor structural repairs on composite components either attached or detached.
- Perform mechanical, electrical removals, and installations as required.
- Interpret and follow aircraft maintenance manuals, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Assist with complex structural repairs on/off aircraft.
- Utilize precision measuring tools and equipment to ensure accurate repairs and compliance with aviation regulations.
- Inspect confined areas of airframe.
- Stay current on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to aviation structural maintenance.
- Minimum of 1 year of structural sheet metal repair and modification experience or sustained similar experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Knowledge of aircraft structures and materials.
- Able to interpret and work with mechanical engineering drawings.
- Possess a basic set of tools.
- Ability to effectively communicate aircraft maintenance actions both verbally and in writing.
- Comfortable working with technology/entering aircraft maintenance actions into a computer-based system.
- Ability to obtain a Security Identification Display Area badge (SIDA) if applicable.
- 3+ years of experience.
- FAA‑issued Airframe or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license.
- MRO experience, CRJ airframe experience and/or Military aircraft maintenance experience (Depot/Isochronal/Phase inspections).
- Completed Sheet metal A/C Tech school or equivalent schooling.
- Our Service Centers are world‑class, and our technicians work in climate‑controlled hangars that are clean, comfortable, and promote safety.
- Position requires full‑time presence at our Tucson, AZ or Bridgeport, WV facility with on‑site collaboration essential to role success.
- 12‑hour shifts on a 3/4/4/3 schedule, which includes days, nights, and weekends.
