American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry/Stepdown night shift position requiring a WV or compact RN license and strong titration skills.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care hospital setting on a 36-bed Cardiac Telemetry/Stepdown unit
- Cares for cardiac patients, post-cath, AMI, post-op lung surgery after CCU, respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, post PCI
- Handles higher acuity patients than typical telemetry units, often requiring stepdown experience
- Patient ratios: 1:5 for Med Surg/Tele acuity, 1:4 for PCU acuity
- Occasional titration of cardiac drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
- Uses Epic for charting; experience preferred
- Monitors are Phillips brand, and RNs must be able to interpret strips
- Floating may be required to any Med Surg/Tele units
- Works as part of a team with charge nurses and CNAs; CNAs typically support at a 1:9 ratio
- Charge nurse present 24/7; night charge nurses may take patient assignments
- CPAP and BiPAP available on unit and managed by respiratory therapy
- Royal blue scrubs required for RNs
- No false nails allowed
- Holiday coverage is part of the standard rotation with permanent staff
- Must successfully pass orientation as assigned
- All time off requests must be discussed prior to contract acceptance
- No local travelers accepted within a 50-mile radius
- Active WV or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a similar setting
- Current BLS (AHA) certification
- Must have strong titration skills for cardiac drips
- Ability to interpret telemetry strips
- Must pass required EKG testing for stepdown units
- Must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
- Candidates with prior WVU employment must have a 2-year separation before consideration
- Cannot work within WVU for more than 1 year cumulatively without a 2-year break
