Position: UHC: RN -7N (Cardiac/Resp.)

We are seeking a registered nurse to provide inpatient nursing care using the nursing process and independent clinical judgment. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality patient care, support fellow health‑care professionals, and maintain accountability for delegated nursing tasks.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state where services are provided or a multi‑state RN license through the eNLC.
  • Basic Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Less than 12 months of experience as a registered nurse.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or higher.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate safety and continuity of care through documentation, handoff tools, and processes.
  • Create and implement a nursing plan of care using the nursing process.
  • Identify patient safety concerns and utilize appropriate resources.
  • Provide patient education tailored to individualized learning needs.
  • Incorporate patient individuality and mutuality data into care delivery.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessment and thorough documentation.
  • Use the teach‑back method to verify education effectiveness.
  • Apply evidence‑based practice in nursing care.
  • Participate in an organizational patient‑centered care model.
  • Document problems and issues in the care plan.
  • Grow capacity to care for complex patients with consultation from experienced colleagues.
  • Commit to lifelong learning through self‑reflection and inquiry.
  • Maintain accountability for delegated nursing care.
  • Respect scope of practice for all interprofessional team members.
  • Conduct holistic, culturally sensitive data collection.
  • Assess the impact of family dynamics on health and wellness.
  • Apply ANA code of ethics to guide practice.
  • Identify discriminatory practices in culturally diverse populations.
  • Individualize care based on beliefs, barriers, and readiness to learn.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift, move, stoop, reach, stand, walk, and carry materials weighing 40 + lb with proper equipment.
  • Maintain visual acuity within normal limits.
  • Hearing within normal limits.
  • Follow safe patient handling guidelines limiting manual lifts to 35 lb.
Working Environment
  • Work protracted or irregular hours.
  • Engage with biohazards and infectious diseases.
  • Handle situations involving the deceased.
  • Operate with hands in water and electrical hazards from patient‑care equipment.
Skills and Abilities
  • Effective interpersonal communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Competent clinical practice and critical thinking to deliver efficient patient care.
  • Flexibility in response to changes in work volume, staff, and schedules.
  • Ability to work under high‑stress conditions and adapt to varying workloads.
CAPE Program Levels
  • Level 1:
    No experience required; graduate nurses with < 12 months of experience and a diploma, ADN, BSN, or higher.
  • Level 2:
    Meets Level 1 requirements; one year of experience.
  • Level 3:
    Two years of experience, one specialty certification (preferred), and experience as charge nurse or preceptor.
  • Level 4: BSN or higher, or ADN/diploma with five years of experience; one specialty certification required; evidence of charge nurse/preceptor roles and participation in QI and shared governance at the unit level.
  • Level 5: MSN or higher with four years of experience (or equivalent), one specialty certification required; evidence of charge nurse/preceptor roles and participation in QI and shared governance at the organization level.
  • Level 6: MSN or higher with seven years of experience (or advanced health‑related degree); one specialty certification required; evidence of charge nurse/preceptor roles and participation in QI and shared governance at the system level.
