• 50 mile radius rule – all submissions must include a copy of the candidate's unexpired driver's license
• Unit/Department:
  Med Surg/Tele Float Pool. Float pool includes units: 6N (36 beds), 7N (29 beds), 4N (36 beds), 5S (36 beds), 6S (36 beds), Critical Care (20 beds).
• Patient-to-nurse ratios: mainly 1:5–6 on most units; once or twice a month may have 7 patients toward end of shift. Acuity may vary.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS (NIHSS optional). All travelers must take and pass a cardiac rhythm exam. ACLS holders expected to pass easily.
• Common diagnoses/types of patients: CHF, cardiac cath, CP, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, orthopedic, oncology (permanent staff administer chemo).
• Experience required/must have: experience with cardiac rhythm exam, familiarity with telemetry strip interpretation, working with med‑surg units, competency with medications and monitoring. First‑time travelers acceptable but must be competent.
• Drip titration:
  Not required. No need to titrate heparin, insulin, nitro or set‑rate cardiac infusions such as amio, dopamine, dobutamine.
• Charge nurse/house supervisor: every unit has a charge nurse. Day charge does not take patient assignments; night shift does. House supervisor available 24/7.
• Nurse aides/CNAs: all units use CNAs. Typical duties include blood sugar checks, task assistance. Ratios vary by unit.
• Respiratory equipment: CPAP & BiPAP only. RT manages equipment; nurses may administer treatments if required.
• Telemetry:
  Philips brand. RN must read and interpret strips. Monitor techs present on most units.
• Shift and scheduling: 12‑hour shifts (7 a.m. – 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.). Allowance for self‑scheduling and block scheduling up to 4–6 weeks in advance.
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday for both day and night shifts).
• Holiday work: integrated into holiday rotation schedule with permanent staff.
• Call or standby: not required.
• Unit assignment: via clinical coordinator's office before shift start; RN may float to multiple units but will primarily be assigned a parent unit and basic telemetry patients.
• Dress code:
  Royal blue scrubs for this unit/department. CNAs wear distinct colors.
• Orientation: 1–2 shifts with a preceptor.
