50‑mile radius rule – all submissions must include a copy of the candidate’s un‑expired driver’s license.

Facility: 32‑bed Emergency Department with Triage & Fast Track. Triage area located in the ER with a separate Fast Track, open 11 am – 11 pm.

BLS & ACLS are required. PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC are preferred. Travelers may take TNCC if space is available at their own expense.

Patient ratios are 1:4 in the main ER, 1:5 in the 5‑bed lower acuity area within the ER, and 1:4‑6 in the Fast Track.

Charge nurse: yes – no patient assignment. Nurse aides and ER techs: 3 per shift, ratios 1:10‑12.

Weekend requirement: every other weekend. Saturday/Sunday for both days and nights. Holidays work according to the holiday rotation schedule with permanent staff.

Scrub color:
Royal Blue. Tele: yes – RN's must be able to read and interpret strips. RT is in‑house 24/7. RT does not perform EKGs. VT: yes – servo ER providers available.

There are 3 physicians on staff in the ED from 11 am – 11 pm; 1 physician for 4 hours on nights; 2 physicians the rest of the time. NP's and PA's also utilized.

IV team available house‑wide until 10 pm Monday‑Friday and until 3:30 pm on weekends. Pharmacy is in‑house 24/7; no pharmacist in the ER – Accudose.

Shift times: 06:15 – 18:45, 11:00 – 23:00, 18:15 – 06:45.

No floating outside of the ED floor. Specific orientation for 1‑2 shifts with a preceptor.

Typical cases: chest pain, respiratory failure, abdominal pain, pediatric patients (15 %), occasional GSW, closed head injuries. Major traumas are stabilized and transferred to the sister hospital, JW Ruby Memorial – Level 1 Trauma Center 40‑45 min away.

Approximately 18 % of patients are admitted. ER staff keep their own holds unless the float pool takes holds. Patients average approximately 2 hours 45 minutes in the ER. This is an extremely efficient ER and a very positive work environment. They are used to travelers and are welcoming.
