American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry/Stepdown position requiring drip titration skills and prior stepdown or telemetry experience.

• Work on a 36-bed Cardiac Tele/Stepdown (PCU) unit in an acute care, Level II trauma hospital setting
• Care for cardiac patients including post-cath, AMI, post-PCI, pacemaker, chest tube, and post-op lung surgery cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 (occasionally 1:6) for Med Surg/Tele acuity and 1:4 for PCU acuity
• Team nursing model with CNA support at approximately 1 CNA per 9 patients
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Phillips telemetry monitors used on the unit with monitor techs available, though RNs must be able to read and interpret strips
• CPAP and BiPap respiratory equipment used on the unit, managed by Respiratory Therapy
• Titration of cardiac drips required, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro (up to 50 mcg)
• 12-hour day and night shifts available (7a-7p, 7p-7a)
• Every-other-weekend requirement, working Saturday/Sunday shifts
• Holiday coverage required as part of the rotation schedule with permanent staff
• Floating required to any Med Surg/Tele unit
• Charge Nurse available 24/7; on nights the Charge Nurse also takes a patient assignment

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior Stepdown or Cardiac Telemetry experience strongly preferred due to higher unit acuity
• Must be able to titrate cardiac drips
• Must be able to independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration
• No false nails permitted

• Provide direct patient care for higher-acuity cardiac and respiratory patients within a stepdown/PCU environment
• Royal blue scrubs required per facility dress code
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible as a traveler; no local candidates accepted
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers are limited to a cumulative total of one year working within the WVU system before requiring a 2-year break
• EKG competency testing may be required for consideration on this unit
• All candidates interview directly with the hiring manager
